The catalyst filter may need to be replaced if it develops an odor. When it collects an odor, you can remove the filter and put it under direct sunlight to dry out the moisture. The evaporation process can help to remove the odor. If drying doesn't help eliminate the smell, it's time to replace the catalyst filter. You can order it through airdogusa.com. Make sure to select the correct model (X3, X5, or X8).

The large metal collecting plates could be washed in the dishwasher running a full cycle. After cleaning, ensure it's thoroughly dried before being put back into the machine. If the collecting plates are dirty, you could soak them in the water with detergent for 20-30 minutes before putting them in the dishwasher. You could turn on the air purifier, switch to the fan mode, then put the collecting plates on top of the air purifier overnight to be blown dry. Use the "Awesome" or another similar brand's spray cleaner mixed 50-50% solution with water (not the full concentrate) to pre-spray the collecting plates in a sink or tub. Spray both sides. Let sit for 1 minute.
